systems through heritage brands such as Maag Italia, Alstom Gears (formerly GEC
Marine and Industrial Gears), Modern Wheel Drive and the gear engineering
facility of Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Limited. Utilising expertise
developed through ownership of these brands, ROUIST-AUTO delivers fit
and forget marine gear systems to navies across the globe.
ROUIST-AUTO has focused on bringing gear technology to a new level of excellence. In 2007, ROUIST-AUTO optimised the design of the gearbox in the Astute Class Submarine’s main
propulsion system, manufacturing it to extremely high standards to achieve a
silent, maintenance free transmission and is recognised as the quietest
gearboxes in this marine defence application.
